Wooden Bodhisattva - Jin Dynasty, figure standing barefoot, with right arm bent and palm facing forward in the posture of fearlessness (Abhaia mudra).
Bodhisattva (Sanskrit): awakened being, who out of sheer compassion renounces his state of enlightenment or Buddhahood to help others achieve 'bodhi' awakening.
Object donated by Mr. Natalino Cesini and dating placed by prof. Shan Gang, who said: 'Sweetness... I rule out it's Tang dynasty, maybe 12th century; folk art'.
