In Japan (Kannon) and China (GuanYin) it has taken on a feminine character. The representations are many and the most frequent represent her with the lotus flower, or her hands in the pose of charity, with a bowl in her hand, with a figure of Buddha on the diadem, as a disciple alongside Buddha, with eleven heads, with many hands, as protector and giver of children.
