Chinese brushes are made in such a way as to allow the maximum finess of the stroke and, at the same time, the thickening of the line. The hairs come from different animals and are assembled at various lengths to form an internal, intermediate and external part.
Brush, ink, inkstone and paper constitute the "four treasures" indispensable for the practice of calligraphy and painting, the main arts to which the Chinese scholar dedicated himself, and which always appeared on his study table.
The handle of the brush, usually made of bamboo, can also be made of jade, lacquer or ceramic.
